Poetry: The Mask

I wore a mask,
the smiling one,
so that nobody else was sad,
I had planned to take it off,
but I kept delaying it,
one circumstance or the other,
too many expectations,
until one day I became "the mask",
the real me sank beneath,
no body was ever discovered,
only my mortal remains exist since forever,
today they convert slowly into ashes,
the last to burn was 'the mask".
